On the right side of the Fuckjian pagoda and in the center of the township was an important _establishment built by the Chinese in 1741 to  worship the Thien Hau (Heavenly Empress), under the name of Tang Assemply Hall. This was the meeting place for Chinese traders, located right by the riverbank. Old people used to tell the story of the big banian tree that kept the traces of the big merchant ships navigating here. This  Assemply Hall was not far from the Chu Pagoda,  Midwife Pagoda, Fukjian, and Quan Kong Temple, it therefore we could guess that this area was  formerly the most important center, headquarters  of the Minh Huong commune under the name of Ngu Bang. The Assembly Hall was reconstructed in 1855 and in 1928 it became the Chinese if Assembly Hall, Chinese School and then Rites School. The pagoda worships the Heavenly Lady and some of statues or paintings of old ships like  those in the Fukjian pagoda. It is not enough for the visitor who came to see Hoi An without visiting this Assembly Hall, because it is the soul of the  past and the present for the Minh Huong and Chinese expatriates. In the Assembly Hall,  worshipped are Confucious and Ton Dat Tien, the  leader of the Chinese Revolutionary in 1911.At a first glimpse, we could see the picture of the 13  Chinese martyrs who fought against the Japanese, among them was the famous musician  La Hoi, the composer of the music song “Spring  and the Youth” (Version by the The Lu). All of them were killed by Japanese troops. Going around to the back yard, we could see the written testament of Ton Dat Tien on the long wall. We could not forget that Ton was the politician who was very interested in Vietnamese resistance against the French. Later the Vietnamese revolutionaries were whole heartedly supported in China. That was the policy of the outstanding politician, Ton. Many Chinese thought that this establishment was founded in the XV century. It was not right, perhaps. If we said it was the establishment that appeared earliest, it was worthy of our attention.
