"Smart" China's prisons are equipped with robots and artificial intelligence

Correctional Service of Hong Kong institutions seriously intends to improve the reliability of their prisons with the help of high technology. According to the Commissioner Danny Wu Ying-ming, in the near future, several correctional facilities will be equipped with "smart" cameras. Also prisoners criminals will be kept under review because of the bracelets that track their location and heart rate. Moreover, special robots will be prisons, which will perform in the truest sense of the word dirty work.

The new technology will be designed to enhance the security of both guards and prisoners. For the first time, they will be tested in three prisons. If they prove their efficiency, "smart" equipment will be extended to other places of detention. Probably, the authorities want them to equip all its prisons.

Cameras with artificial intelligence will be installed in the bathrooms. To ensure confidentiality, some areas of the footage will be darkened. The system will monitor and catch "abnormal" behavior of prisoners like fights and painful episodes. Bracelets will transmit information about the location of the protection of each criminal. They will also monitor their heartbeat and to notify employees about health problems. Most likely, this system will help prevent escapes, murder and sudden death of the prisoners.

The term "robot" prisons representatives imply a mechanical arm, which will search for contraband drugs in waste. At the moment, this dirty work themselves forced to deal with prison staff.

Do you think that if these technologies take root? What other systems it would be nice to equip the prison? Your answer may be to write a comment and discuss this topic more - in our Telegram-chat.
